How to use it

Clinical Studies

The Study

XLS MEDICAL PRO-7 is a weight loss and weight management product formulated with a proprietary blend of dehydrated Okranol® as principal ingredient and with other excipients.

In order to assess the product’s tolerability and efficacy in reducing body weight in overweight and moderately obese subjects, a gold standard clinical trial was conducted**.

Clinical trial set-up

Double-blind, randomised, three-armed, placebo-controlled clinical trial. 108 overweight and moderately obese subjects (BMI: 25-35). The primary endpoint of the study was to evaluate the difference between mean change of body weight after taking 2 capsules of PRO-7 after a meal 3 times per day and placebo, after 12 weeks of treatment. Next to the weight loss, also other endpoints were measured, such as for instance waist and hip circumference or body fat reduction. The product’s safety and tolerability was validated throughout the study.

Results

After 12 weeks of intake, the PRO-7 group had a significantly greater weight loss compared with the placebo group (5.03 ± 2.50 kg vs 0.98 ± 2.06 kg, respectively; p < 0.001). The PRO-7 group experienced a mean decrease in body fat of 3.15 ± 2.41 kg compared with a mean decrease of 0.23 ± 2.74 kg for the placebo group (p < 0.001). PRO-7 also decreased feeling of hunger in 66% subjects. A beneficial effect of PRO-7 on the lipid metabolism was also demonstrated in the subgroup of subjects with baseline total cholesterol levels above 6.2 mmol/L. No side effects related to the intake of PRO-7 were reported.

Conclusions
